4. Clinical application:
(1) The deficiency of folic acid may lead to the abnormality of red blood cells, increase of immature cells, anemia and decrease of white blood cells, which will affect the synthesis of nucleic acid, and affect the division and replication of normal cells.
(2) Folic acid is a coenzyme required in the synthesis of nucleic acid, and has a promoting effect that improves the development of nerve cells and brain cells and increases intelligence, helps to regulate the development of embryonic nerve cells and prevents congenital neural tube defects in neonates. As an essential substance for cell growth and proliferation in the organism, it is also able to promote the maturation of immature cells in the bone marrow.
(3) As an indispensable substance for the production of red blood cells, folic acid is able to promote milk secretion, prevent and treat parasites in the small intestine and food poisoning, improve skin health, and exert an analgesic effect. When being taken with para-aminobenzoic acid, folic acid is able to prevent growing white hair. In cases of physical weakness (poor health status), it can promote appetite, and prevent ulcers of the mouth mucosa and anemia.
